What is the Child & Adult Care Food Program?
The Child & Adult Care Food Program is a part of the National School Lunch Act, which benefits all preschool and school-age children, and is funded by the USDA.
The Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides:
– Reimbursement for meals served
– Training in nutrition and child care
– A resource center for providers
Who can participate in the program?
Any registered child care provider who cares for one or more child under the age of 13 in his or her home may be eligible.
How can the program help me as a child care provider?
Your profits will increase because you will no longer have to pay for all the costs for providing meals and snacks to your daycare children, and parents need not bring food into your child care home.
You will be reimbursed for meals you serve to the children (and your own children if you qualify for that benefit) under the age of 13.

You will receive guidance in
menu planning and information
about child care and development
through our biannual newsletters and annual training.
You will meet providers just like you and exchange ideas about how important your role is in impacting your community by serving as a child care provider.
How much will I be Reimbursed?
Once you are in the program, you will receive a monthly check reimbursing you for the meals you served which met the USDA requirements. You can claim up to two meals and one snack per child per day. The rates of reimbursement this year (July 2015-June 2016) are:
Tier I Tier II
$1.32 $.48 – Breakfasts
$2.48 $1.50 – Lunches/Dinners
$.74 $.20 – Snacks
What type of records must I keep?
The records you must keep for the CACFP are:
– Monthly menus which list meals that you serve
– A monthly invoice form which logs the dates, hours, and meals served to the children in your care
– A monthly attendance sheet
