Safe Haven Shelter

The Safe Haven Shelter operates in a unique and different way than other HSP shelters.  Safe Haven offers minimum structure and low-demand services while providing safe, warm lodging, hot meals, bathing and laundry facilities to homeless mentally ill men and women.

The goals set for each resident in this shelter vary depending upon their abilities and needs.  Some of these goals are to maintain stability, increase daily living skills, increase alternative income support through establishing eligibility for entitlements, and eventually to engage in treatment and move into more permanent housing.

Who may be eligible?

Homeless men and women 18 years or older with verifiable mental illness or obvious symptoms of mental illness during pre-screening interview.

Requirements/Guidelines to Apply

  • Must be homeless

  • Resident must be 18 years or older with serious mental illness

  • Resident must be physically and mentally able to care for their personal needs

  • Must sign and abide by shelter guidelines

  • Must pay a fee based on available monthly income
